ARC Gallery is a Chicago-based nonprofit exhibition space founded in 1973 as a women-led artists' cooperative dedicated to presenting work by artists and writers who face significant barriers within the dominant art world. Today it operates as an international exhibition venue managed by its artist-members, maintaining independence from corporate or institutional influence. The space does not charge admission and takes no commissions on artwork sold at solo shows. As a nonprofit organization, ARC Gallery relies on donations, grants, and membership dues to support its programming. Its mission centers on supporting artists whose work may be difficult to exhibit due to systemic barriers and safety concerns, with an emphasis on an intersectional feminist approach that seeks to uplift those affected by patriarchy, white supremacy, and misogyny.
