Archaeology in the Community (AITC) is a nonprofit educational organization that demonstrates how archaeologists uncover evidence about past societies and helps students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills with applications beyond archaeology. It delivers archaeological expertise to communities in a clear, meaningful way, conveying the excitement and challenge of historical research along with the practical methods used to reveal hidden pasts in different settings. Based in Washington, DC, the group operates in the education-focused programs sector and relies on a small team to run its community programs. In June 2025, AITC organized the DC Day of Archaeology Festival, an event that ASOR attended.
