Argyle was founded in 1987 by pioneering vintner Rollin Soles, grounded in the belief that Oregon’s cool-climate Willamette Valley could produce world-class sparkling wine. Today, our winemaking program spans sparkling wines, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Riesling, each recognized for elegance, vineyard expression, and uncommon ageability. While Argyle has quietly become an Oregon icon, we have remained firmly rooted in the Willamette Valley and true to the grower-first ideals that shaped our beginnings. Our estate program now encompasses more than 400 acres, defined by a rare diversity of microclimates, elevations, exposures, soil types, and clonal and rootstock selections. Winemaker Kate Payne Brown and her team work in exceptionally small lots to preserve the nuance of our estate fruit. Ongoing experimentation is central to the program, from skin contact and whole-cluster fermentation to varied harvest timings and a continually refined dosage approach. At its core, Argyle’s story reflects the spirit of Oregon itself: a willingness to take risks, explore new ground, and pursue possibility with intention. It is also a story rooted in long-standing relationships with the land, the Willamette Valley wine community, and the people who have championed Oregon’s distinctive wines from the beginning.
