The Armed Forces Hospitals in the Southern Region (AFHSR) is a Saudi health care network based in Khamis Mushait, Asir, that serves the medical and health needs of Ministry of Defense employees in the Southern Region. It operates as a reference hospital, receiving critical cases transferred from military hospitals in Sharurah, Najran, and Jizan, as well as cases from civilian hospitals in the region. The network delivers curative, preventive, and diagnostic care across medical specialties and includes high-complex procedures such as open-heart surgery and kidney transplantation. The first Armed Forces Hospital in Khamis Mushayt opened in 1964, followed by the King Faisal Military Hospital in 1975, and the Armed Forces Hospital in the South began in 1982 with 205 beds. Over time, facilities expanded to 609 beds, with the aim of becoming an integrated center of medical disciplines in the city.
