ARTISAN traces its roots back to the late 1990′s where our doctors and nurses needed to solve a couple of problems in the office. The nurses were spending endless hours writing treatment calendars and prescriptions by hand. With three office's worth of charts spread everywhere, our group was an organizational mess. We tried to solve this problem by buying an electronic medical record system, which quickly turned into an impossible task. All of the available EMR’s were extremely expensive and didn’t work like we think. Nobody was happy. We made the decision to design a database in order to assist our staff in the creation of IVF calendars and keeping track of our OR with an online schedule. Everything at our fingertips with no charts. Life was much easier! Next, the lab asked for software to automate IVF laboratory record keeping. So we designed the lab database. The problems kept coming. How do we eliminate the office charts completely, keep track of new patient H&Ps, and take all of our progress notes online? Could we create a donor registry and incorporate our superbills into the medical records as well?
