ArtWorks NYC is a small nonprofit operating in the primary and secondary education space, based in New York City. It provides NYC public school children with a guided introduction to the visual arts through a series of classroom workshops designed to help students discuss, compare, and interpret artworks. The program culminates in visits to major museums, specifically The Met and the Brooklyn Museum, and uses an inquiry-based approach to help children develop their own voice in responding to art and to strengthen critical thinking. The organization relies on volunteers to deliver its programs and serves public schools across the city. This year, ArtWorks NYC reached twenty schools and over three thousand students, reflecting its reach within the local education community.
