As Our Own is a Houston-based nonprofit founded in 2006 with a mission to prevent the exploitation and trafficking of children by raising care standards for vulnerable children in India. It aims to care for each child as a cherished family member, providing a stable home and access to high-quality education from primary through college and graduate programs. The organization is built around three pillars—care, training, and replication—to advance its vision of transforming how the world cares for vulnerable children.

Training is delivered through the Child Development Institute at Hope College, offering a Master’s Degree in Child Development to prepare leaders and practitioners in holistic, clinically sound approaches to child care. Through replication, As Our Own partners with other organizations to help them reproduce its model in group homes, expanding the reach of its approach and enabling more children to fulfill their potential.
