AS220 is a mid-sized nonprofit community arts organization based in downtown Providence, Rhode Island, founded in 1985. It functions as a local forum and home for the arts by maintaining residential and work studios, galleries, and spaces for performance and education, with venues that are unjuried, uncensored, and open to all ages. The organization operates across three facilities and provides a range of spaces and housing for artists, including 47 affordable residential apartments and seven work studios, four rotating galleries, a performance stage, a black box theater, a print shop, a darkroom and media arts lab, a fabrication and electronics lab, and a dance studio; it also runs a youth program and includes a bar and restaurant. AS220 seeks to support artists and broaden cultural opportunities for Rhode Island residents, fostering a community where people can share, collaborate, and engage with the arts. In 2026 the organization announced a leadership transition with Anjel Newmann named Artistic Director.
