Ashford Hospital is a long-standing medical institution in the Hospitals and Health Care sector, based in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It originated in 1904 when the Presbyterian Mission Board identified a need for a hospital in Santurce, initially comprising three wooden buildings. After governance moved to a Puerto Rico-based board in 1946, the facility was renamed Ashford Presbyterian Community Hospital; today it is commonly known as El Ashford and continues to evolve to meet community needs through modern medical care. The hospital has been accredited by the Joint Commission since 1958 and operates with 199 beds, supported by a medical staff of about 350 physicians and roughly 700 employees. It offers care across most medical specialties to residents of San Juan and surrounding areas.
