The Asian Association of Utah is a Salt Lake City–based non-profit that supports victims of human trafficking, refugees, and refugee youth through services designed to address trauma and language needs, delivered by trained staff. It aims to help individuals become self-sufficient and thrive through services such as case management, employment assistance, counseling, mental health treatment, English language classes, afterschool programs, and mentoring for youth. Collaborations with state and local agencies and law enforcement enable comprehensive, culturally appropriate support. Founded in 1977 in response to resettlement work after the Vietnam War, AAU now serves refugees from around the world and runs the annual Utah Asian Festival. Based in Salt Lake City, AAU works with the Utah resettlement system, the Utah State Refugee Office, refugee communities, protective services, the Utah Attorney General’s Office, and the U.S. Department of Justice. A recent development is a partnership with Peace House, announced in 2026, signaling expanded community collaboration.
