The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is the governing body for football in Asia and one of FIFA's six confederations. Formed in 1954 in Manila, the Philippines, the AFC is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and comprises 47 Member Associations. It regulates the game in Asia, drafts and implements laws to improve the sport, supports grassroots and youth development, and conducts major competitions. The organization is led by President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John.
