The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania (APABA-PA) is a small professional association in the legal services sector, dedicated to advancing Asian Pacific American attorneys and promoting justice, equity, and legal access for APA communities in Pennsylvania. It was established in 1984 by ten lawyers as the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of the Delaware Valley and broadened its scope in 2007 to serve the entire Commonwealth. Based in Philadelphia, APABA-PA has long-standing ties to the broader legal community, including its status as a founding member of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) in 1988. The organization functions as a voice for APA attorneys within the organized bar and judiciary and participates in leadership roles within the Philadelphia Bar Association. It holds a permanent seat on the Philadelphia Bar Association's Commission on Judicial Retention and Selection and a rotating seat on its Board of Governors, with liaison slots across various sections and committees. Through its members' affiliation with NAPABA, APABA-PA participates in a national network supporting APA legal professionals and advocacy on access to education and equal opportunity.
