Welcome to the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired
Mission:
Our mission is to help individuals living with Low Vision or Blindness thrive in a sighted world
Vision statement:
We are the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Dedicated to assisting those with visual impairments or blindness. We assist our clients by providing low vision services, employment training, rehabilitation services and assistive technology training. Here at ABVI, our team has dedicated their lives to ensuring that every client continues to thrive in a sighted world.
“Anyone can accomplish what I have done. Anyone can do what Helen Keller did. Hard work, intelligence, good teachers and proper facilities are all that a blind or seeing person requires. And the greatest of these is work—hard, continuous, never-ending work.
People express the utmost astonishment when they learn that I play the piano, that I bake, keep house, do fancy work and operate a sewing machine and a typewriter. Some marvel even that I dress my own hair. Why shouldn’t I? Why shouldn’t all blind people?
Thought, patience, labor—there is no other secret in our success. We have merely seized what by right belongs to us and our practical, human, hard working men and women.” ABVI’s Founder
								Roberta Griffith
