The Association of Farmworker Opportunity Programs (AFOP) is a civil society organization grounded in Washington, D.C., operating within the civic and social sector. It coordinates and supports a network of 52 member groups across 49 states and Puerto Rico to serve migrant and seasonal farmworkers, providing job training, pesticide safety education, emergency assistance, and advocacy on behalf of farmworkers who grow and harvest the nation’s food. All member programs participate in the National Farmworker Jobs Program, a U.S. Department of Labor grant initiative aimed at educating and equipping farmworkers with skills that lead to sustainable employment with benefits. In addition to NFJP activities, AFOP’s members run diverse initiatives such as Head Start, migrant education, and housing counseling, while national staff pursue health and safety programming and campaigns focused on children in the fields. The organization is based in Washington, D.C., and operates with a national reach through its multi-state network to address the needs and rights of farmworkers and their families.
