The Association of NJ Environmental Commissions (ANJEC) is a nonprofit organization that helps establish and support environmental commissions and educates local officials and residents on protecting the environment and building sustainable communities. It advocates for sound public policies and coordinates groups with environmental interests across the state. Based in Mendham, New Jersey, ANJEC has been active for more than four decades. The association's network comprises about 2,600 municipal members representing more than 350 municipalities across all 21 counties. Many volunteers advise local governments on sustainability, environmental issues, and land use, while also educating residents and stewarding open space. In 2023, ANJEC partnered with the Stony Brook Millstone Watershed Association, illustrating its role in coordinating statewide environmental efforts.
