ATypI, the Association Typographique Internationale, is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to type and typography. Founded in 1957 and based in California, it serves the international type community by fostering communication, education, and collaboration around typography. The organization preserves the culture, history, and traditions of type while promoting contemporary digital fonts and their creators and publishing related resources. ATypI supports innovation and inclusivity through events—conferences, workshops, seminars, and similar programs—and it awards the Prix Charles Peignot to young designers for outstanding contributions to type design. In 2023 governance updates included the election of Thomas Phinney as president and the reelection of Sumanthri Samarawickrama as vice president.
