Austin Classical Guitar, organized in 1990 and obtaining 501(c)(3) status in 1996, is a nonprofit based in Austin, Texas, operating in the performing arts sector. It is recognized as a prominent classical guitar presenter and service organization in the United States. The organization presents approximately 100 concerts each year in Austin across multiple series, showcasing renowned international guitarists alongside local talent and drawing audiences in the thousands. A core focus is its education program, which began with a single high school class in 2001 and has since expanded to for-credit fine arts offerings for thousands of students in Austin and beyond. In 2004, ACG Education launched GuitarCurriculum.com, an online curriculum used by hundreds of teachers around the world, and the organization conducts three-day Teacher Training Workshops in Austin and other U.S. sites. Since 2014, the Lullaby Project, a collaboration with Carnegie Hall, pairs Music & Healing artists with mothers in shelters, hospitals, prisons, or with social service partners to create a personal song for their child.
