The Australian Institute of Marine Science, established in 1972 as a government statutory authority, focuses on tropical marine science in Australia. Its research spans biodiversity, climate-change impacts, water quality, and ecosystem health, with the goal of protecting tropical marine resources and supporting their sustainable use.
