Baader Planetarium, based in Mammendorf in Bavaria, Germany, is a midsize machinery manufacturer with around five decades of experience in producing and installing astronomical equipment. The company designs and mounts observatory domes—ranging from compact sizes to large structures—and also produces projection domes for planetariums, with installations in use around the world. Its domes are engineered to operate in demanding environments, including polar regions and desert settings, featuring hermetic sealing against dust and harsh conditions. In addition to fixed installations, Baader offers ready-to-build observatories for amateur, university, scientific, and commercial applications, and it develops high-end robotic telescopes up to 2 meters in aperture through European distribution partnerships with Planewave Instruments (USA) and 10 Micron (Italy), among other brands. Its customers span institutions, universities, observatories, and commercial organizations worldwide. Notable clients include the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, the Max Planck Institutes, the German Museum in Munich, the University of Hamburg’s PIST project, and The Open University UK’s PIRATE project.
