Back to the Picture was founded in 1985 as an art gallery and custom framing business in San Francisco, California. Seeing a need in the Latin American art market, we directed the gallery to feature Latin American and local San Francisco artists. Since its inception, Back to the Picture has remained true to its original vision of providing valuable exhibition opportunities to local San Francisco artists, as well as featuring arts and crafts from throughout Latin America. Through it all, we have offered fine-quality custom framing to artists, collectors, and the general public. In 2005, we expanded the business to include a location in San Francisco's South of Market district. Established originally at 1110 Howard Street, Back to the Picture/SoMa moved to 83 10th Street in November 2011, and is part of San Francisco's mid-Market improvement district. Back to the Picture utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and industry-standard art handling methods to execute pristine custom framing and preservation work to our clients' exacting specifications. Back to the Picture's team is led by Randy Figures, who has managed the business closely with the owners since 2002, and Oscar Ortega, who has run our framing production since 1996. Derek Hargrove and Brandon Fung were hired to assist in the growth of the company in 2011. With senior leadership and a retention rate rare in our industry, we have honed our craft to a science.
