BALCO UNIFORM Co. Inc. First opened its doors in 1990. The uniform shop was just another small business under the umbrella of the BALCO Management corporate structure put in place by the Liudahl family of Williston, North Dakota. Williston lies in an oil rich basin near the Montana border and the U.S./Canada border. Marti Liudahl took the reigns of BALCO UNIFORM in 1995 and the complacent company began to really take shape. It outgrew four different locations and now finds itself in two locations located in Williston, ND and Bozeman, MT. Marti founded a customer base in North Dakota and Montana that is still very loyal to this day. She had a way with people and they still ask about her and life in retirement. Marti’s son, Jake, and his wife Shawna brought their family back home from Helena, Montana to break into the family business in 2002. In 2004, the company was sold to Shawna and Jake and it still retains “woman-owned” certification. in 2013 Jake and Shawna uprooted their family again to move back to Montana and open a second store in Bozeman. The Williston store was left in the very capable hands of the staff where they continue to take care of some of the companies largest contracts and the busy walk-in business.
