Banco Adopem is a savings and credit bank based in Naco, Dominican Republic, providing financial services focused on productive financing for micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises, including a substantial share of women clients. Founded in 2004 by the Adopem NGO, the institution has grown within regulatory norms and, since 2012, has been part of the Microfinance BBVA Foundation network. It maintains a nationwide footprint with 74 branches and 201 Adopem Express subagents across the country. About 67% of its client base are women, reflecting its focus on serving women and underserved communities. In 2021, the European Investment Bank partnered with Banco Adopem to support micro-enterprises affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and to promote broader access to credit for women.
