Barr Foundation is a Boston-based philanthropic organization focused on unlocking human, natural, and creative potential, acting as thoughtful stewards and catalysts. It operates regionally while selectively engaging national partners, collaborating with nonprofits, other foundations, the public sector, and civic and business leaders. Its core priorities include elevating the arts and creative expression, advancing climate solutions, and helping all students succeed from high school through graduation. As a mid-sized foundation, Barr works across sectors to address community needs in the Boston area and beyond. A notable development in March 2026 was a public-private partnership with the Boston Foundation and other partners to support immigrant neighbors. These collaborations illustrate the foundation's regional focus and its practice of working with nonprofits, public entities, and civic and business leaders.
