The Basic Education Coalition is an independent, non-profit advocacy group in international affairs that unites about 30 organizations to support universal access to quality basic education. Its work concentrates on on-the-ground programs delivered in challenging settings, aiming to reach children and youth who are most in need and to help them acquire skills that contribute to healthier communities and more stable societies. The coalition serves as a neutral forum for member organizations to share expertise, collaborate, and advocate for stronger support for basic education on a global scale. Based in Washington, DC, the coalition emphasizes that education is a foundational right and works to amplify the voices of the most disadvantaged through coordinated advocacy. A recent development noted is a collaboration related to a Research Data Access and Preservation project, culminating in a hackathon hosted with RDAP and ICPSR.
