Based in Vancouver, the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) serves as a provincial and national leader in public health, coordinating surveillance, detection, treatment, prevention and consultation services. It provides direct diagnostic and treatment care for diseases of public health importance and offers analytical and policy support to government bodies and health authorities. The center monitors communicable diseases in British Columbia and acts as the province’s reporting hub for reportable conditions, while also fostering collaboration with scientists, health professionals and academic partners. Its customers include government and regional health authorities and other response partners who rely on its data, services and expertise to inform public health decisions. The organization is part of the Hospitals and Health Care landscape and operates as an agency of the Provincial Health Services Authority, employing several hundred staff. In June 2026, the center launched the BC HARS Lookup Tool to help response partners check BC HARS zones and forecast regions across the province.
