Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, specializes in European and American modern art and their legacies. Its core holdings were assembled by the Zürich-based Bechtler family and gifted to the museum by Andreas Bechtler and his family, longtime residents of the area. The collection includes works by Alberto Giacometti, Paul Klee, Pablo Picasso, and Barbara Hepworth, reflecting a focus on 20th-century modernism. The building, designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta, is marked at the entrance by Niki de Saint Phalle’s Le Grand Oiseau de Feu sur l’Arche. In addition to its exhibitions, the museum serves as a cultural hub with live music, artist talks, and events for families and younger audiences. In 2025, the institution expanded its permanent collection with three new artworks.
