Bel Canto Chorus, founded in 1931, is Southeastern Wisconsin's oldest continuously performing arts organization. Based in Franklin, Wisconsin, the ensemble draws most of its members from communities across southeastern Wisconsin and northeastern Illinois. Although some singers are professional musicians, the group is largely made up of individuals from a variety of other professions, and it regularly performs with orchestras and other accompanists, drawing on a repertoire that includes major choral and orchestral masterworks as well as newer and lesser-known works. Regular rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, with extra sessions before concerts. In 2024, Jonathan Laabs was appointed artistic director, succeeding Richard Hynson.
