Founded in 1923, Belhaven is a leading full boarding and day prep school close to Edinburgh in South East Scotland for boys and girls aged 6 to 13 years. The school is now one of only a handful of boarding prep-schools in the UK who don't offer flexi or weekly boarding, meaning the school is always full on Saturday and Sunday nights, with a wonderful programme of exciting activities laid on for all weekends when the boys and girls are in school.

Set in 20 acres of beautiful grounds, Belhaven has an idyllic, coastal setting and enjoys easy access to the A1, the East Coast Rail Line and Edinburgh Airport. Belhaven offers a forward-looking and creative academic curriculum with outdoor learning, as well as comprehensive Support for Learning. In 2020, the 26 leavers secured 18 scholarships between them, including awards for Academics, Sport, Music, Art and Drama to leading schools in Scotland and England.

The school operates a comprehensive daily minibus service across East Lothian and down to the Scottish Borders & Northumberland, and weekend buses to Dumfries, Perth and Stonehaven. The school can also accompany children by train down (and back) to York and London, or Heathrow Airport for onward flights at exeat weekends, half-terms and the start and end of term.

At Belhaven, we believe that children can still be children and that the outdoors is just as important as the classroom. Good old traditional values, strong friendships and a home-from-home feel are all key elements of Belhaven life.
