BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life) is a nonprofit organization based in Dorchester, Massachusetts. For more than 25 years, it designs and delivers summer and after-school programs that blend academics with enrichment with the aim of narrowing the achievement gap for students from low-income communities. It partners with schools and community-based organizations across the United States, using a partnership and licensing model to help districts and partners launch or optimize OST programs, and to provide guidance across program design, professional development, technical assistance, curriculum, data management, and program evaluation. The typical program includes small-group instruction in reading, writing, and math, along with enrichment courses in science, technology, arts, and health, plus physical activity, field trips, and community engagement, delivered by school- and community-based staff. Historically, BELL has reached tens of thousands of Pre-K–8 students in multiple states, including more than 14,000 scholars in 28 states in 2016; in 2023, BellXcel announced the launch of Arly, a proprietary youth program management software, reflecting continued efforts to enhance program delivery.
