The Ben Curtis Family Foundation operates in the fundraising sector with a focus on alleviating childhood hunger. It develops and distributes the Birdie Bags program, which provides nine meals and six snacks to students to send home for ten long weekends each year, aiming to support students’ ability to concentrate in school. The foundation primarily serves children in the Kent City School District and in LEAP programs across Portage and Summit counties, relying on local food resources to assemble the bags. Based in Kent, Ohio, the organization is a small entity that partners with community groups and schools to address food insecurity among school-aged children.

A recent development noted in local news highlights collaboration with other community organizations, including a partnership that supported holiday meals and personalized gifts for families, and participation in a university alumni-led food-backing effort to assemble thousands of Birdie Bags, illustrating active engagement with local institutions to expand its reach.
