BCS MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of Berks Christian School is to provide quality education from a biblical, Christian world view, practicing a prayerful concern for the individual, by extending the Christian home and church into the school setting. Our priorities emphasize the development of Christian character in preparing students for lifelong, fruitful service for Christ. BRIEF HISTORY OF BCS: The Exeter Bible Church had been considering the possibility of starting a Christian school since 1972 when the Board of Elders established the Berks Christian School Committee, but it was not until September 1975 that the vision began to be a reality. At that time the Board of Elders proposed that Exeter Bible Church begin a school operated and controlled by the church but open to any willing child whose parents include at least one born again Christian. A congregational vote taken in March 1976 was overwhelmingly favorable, and an initial offering taken on Easter Sunday formed the seedbed for the school. The first students were enrolled on May 15, 1976, and the door of BCS opened on September 8, 1976, with an enrollment of 96 students; the first graduating class consisted of two students. The Lord has blessed in a mighty way since then with growth in facilities and enrollment. BCS is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International and Mid-Atlantic Christian School Association. Our goal is academic excellence: total education from a thoroughly Christian perspective. Berks Christian School has an enrollment of 175 students and has over 450 alumni.
