BES (build. excel. sustain.) is a national nonprofit focused on developing educational leaders who can build and sustain high-performing schools. It targets a range of school leaders—from founders and executive directors to operations leaders, deans of students, and directors of curriculum and instruction—and trains them to elevate school quality and ensure lasting results. Based in Boston, Massachusetts, the organization has operated for more than two decades and has trained nearly 3,000 leaders who have helped launch more than 220 schools across 54 cities in 22 states and Washington, D.C. The work reaches about 73,000 students, with 82 percent qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch and 90 percent identifying as students of color. Programs include the BES Fellowship, Follow On Support, School Management and Leadership Accelerator, Leadership Intensives, School Leader Coaching, and Executive Search.
