Beverly Montessori School is a not-for-profit early childhood center that has been providing authentic Montessori education to our community for over 55 years. We are located in the Beverly neighborhood of Chicago on the southwest side. Our programs include half-day and full-day preschool and kindergarten for 3-6 year old children. We are full members of The American Montessori Society (AMS) and on the pathway for accreditation. We are also full members of the Association of Illinois Montessori Schools (AIMS). These organizations are charged with maintaining the quality and integrity of Montessori practice. All of our teachers are Montessori certified in Early Childhood and the staff has a wide range of backgrounds, schooling and experience. Our Mission: Beverly Montessori School encourages a lifelong love of learning with a deep respect for each child. Our Vision: We strive to provide an inclusive welcoming school community that provides authentic and developmentally appropriate Montessori early childhood learning. We value the human spirit and the development of the whole child. It is our aim to partner with parents, to guide children, to be peacemakers and citizens of the global community. Our Philosophy: Our educational philosophy is based on the research of Dr. Maria Montessori, who founded the first Montessori school in Rome in 1907. Dr. Montessori believed that the goal of the educational process was to cultivate a child’s natural desire to learn. Our method of education is a child-centered approach. It is a view of the child as one who is naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. Our teachers carefully prepare their environments with Montessori materials presented in an orderly way.
