Bicycle Angels is a non-profit organization that loans road bicycles at no cost to individuals who want to participate in charity cycling or triathlon events and are unable to afford a suitable bike. By removing the barrier of bicycle access, the group supports fundraising efforts for eligible charities and aims to bring new participants into cycling, with about half of loan recipients later purchasing their own bike. Since its founding in 2009, Bicycle Angels has facilitated the participation of more than 1,000 individuals who collectively raised over $3,000,000 for more than 25 charitable organizations, including the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society, and the AIDS Lifecycle, among others. The organization operates in several metropolitan areas—Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco, and Salt Lake City—with plans to expand to additional locations in the future. Based in Redondo Beach, California, Bicycle Angels functions within the spectator sports sector as a small, volunteer-driven charity dedicated to enabling endurance fundraising through cycling.
