The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. As a child, each one of us had someone there for us other than our parents - someone who broadened our horizons, pushed us to do better, and brought a little magic into our lives. A Big Brother or Big Sister does just that for the children in the community who need it the most. Big Brothers Big Sisters has been the leader in one-to-one youth service for 34 years by providing caring, adult mentors to children ages five to eighteen and beyond, who come primarily from single-parent homes. BBBS of Northwest Florida serves families throughout Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, and Bay Counties. Our expected impact & goals when Bigs & Littles spend time together include: •Educational achievements •Improved Social Skills •Better Relationships ●Expansion of their hope and motivation for successful paths in life. Many fail to realize their aspirations because of challenging home lives and life after is often a mystery to them. They need to have not only access to postsecondary education and training but also the knowledge and skills necessary to continue forward. We offer many different volunteer initiatives for individuals or companies to get involved, including Community-based Mentoring, School-based Mentoring, Big Duo, Beyond School Walls, Bigs with Badges, Grandparents Raising their Grandchildren, and Big Futures. There are many opportunities to share your talents and make a difference and we will find a place for you!
