Big Rivers Electric Corporation is a member-owned, not-for-profit generation and transmission cooperative that provides wholesale electric power and shared services to three distribution cooperatives in western Kentucky. The Member-Owners: Jackson Purchase Energy Cooperative in Paducah, Kenergy Corp in Henderson, and Meade County Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation in Brandenburg retail electricity to more than 120,000 homes, farms, businesses, and industries across 22 counties. Incorporated in 1961, the company aims to deliver low-cost, reliable wholesale power and cost-effective shared services to its members.
Based in Owensboro, Kentucky, Big Rivers opened a new headquarters at 710 West 2nd Street in 2023. That year, the cooperative also earned the KEMI Destiny Award for the eighth consecutive year in recognition of its safety program.
