Bio-protocol is a Palo Alto–based biotechnology research platform with a small to mid-sized team that provides free access to protocols and a community for researchers. It was founded in 2011 by Stanford University researchers and began as an open-access, peer-reviewed journal publishing detailed, step-by-step methods. Today the platform broadens its offerings with a preprint repository, educational webinars, and an interactive methods database to support reproducibility by enabling direct communication and sharing among researchers. Its audience consists of researchers who use and contribute protocols to discover, share, and discuss methods, addressing reproducibility challenges in scientific work. In January 2025, Bio-protocol announced the launch of Long COVID Labs.
