Bixel Exchange, the Center for Innovation and Technology at the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, was launched in 2013 to connect the region’s growing technology sector to the diverse and talented individuals in L.A. Our mission is simple: we help create tech career pathways for underrepresented youth with the goal of creating a more prosperous and inclusive Los Angeles. The L.A. Tech Talent Pipeline, our partnership with L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti, connects low-income, diverse students to careers in the fast-growing technology sector. Since 2017, we have worked with more than 60 of L.A.’s top tech employers to connect more than 4,000 diverse, traditionally underrepresented high school and community college students to work-based learning opportunities (company tours, classroom guest speakers, immersive workshops), internships and job placements. As part of our partnership with Mayor Garcetti, Bixel Exchange placed more than 100 low-income students at paid summer internships at L.A.’s top tech companies in 2017, including Snap Inc., Boingo Wireless, mitú and Tastemade. Startup LAunch Tech SBDC helps underrepresented entrepreneurs & tech startups launch and scale sustainable companies through one-on-one mentorship, specialized workshops and access to our vetted entrepreneurial community.
