BKM Bankalararası Kart Merkezi, or the Interbank Card Center of Türkiye, operates Türkiye's national card payment system infrastructure. Founded in 1990 by a consortium of 13 public and private Turkish banks, it was established to address shared payment system challenges and to advance banking and card standards. Based in Istanbul, the organization develops systems and platforms that enable cashless payments and transfers across the market, serving banks, merchants, and cardholders. It supports secure online transactions through dedicated fraud-prevention and verification measures and participates in a governance structure that includes a partnership with the Central Bank of Türkiye. As part of its strategy to broaden cashless payments, BKM introduced Turkey’s first digital wallet in 2012 and launched the domestic card scheme and brand TROY in 2016.
