Founded in 1972, Blue Heron Headwaters Conservancy (formerly North Oakland Headwaters Land Conservancy) is one of Michigan’s oldest land conservancies. We are a nonprofit, community-supported organization dedicated to preserving the natural lands and waters of northwest Oakland County and parts of Livingston and Genesee counties. With over 50 years of conservation leadership, we have protected more than 1,500 acres across six townships and two counties. Our work safeguards forests, fields, wetlands, and streams in the headwaters region of the Clinton, Shiawassee, Huron, and Flint Rivers—ensuring clean water, wildlife habitat, and natural beauty for generations to come. Our mission is to protect land, water, and wildlife through preservation, stewardship, and education. We envision a future where biodiversity thrives and the quality of life for our communities is sustained and enhanced.
