Bodynamics is a somatic developmental psychotherapy. Its guiding principle is called Mutual Connection. Mutual connection concerns balancing one’s personal dignity with interpersonal connections. It can be most clearly stated in the form of a simple question: Can I be all of me, and you be all of you, and can we be in a close and caring relationship? This is what is being worked out in childhood development. Disruptions in these relationships are much of what we work on in psychotherapy. What makes Bodynamics unique in our approach is our knowledge of how non-traumatic developmental disruptions are encoded in the muscles and the voluntary nervous system. This allows us to be very precise in our use of the body to enhance verbal therapy. It also helps us to address attachment states of mind by building our relationships with clients around the developmental themes of the issues with which we are working. By using this advanced knowledge we can meet people precisely where they need it the most. This greatly aids clients towards fully embodied contact with themselves and with significant others.
