Bolton Council is one of 10 local authorities that make up the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. Bolton town centre is surrounded by several smaller towns and villages that together form the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton.
The work of the council is carried out through three departments (Chief Executive’s, Department of People and Department of Place) which are overseen by the Cabinet and Executive Cabinet Members. The Council also works with a variety of private, public and voluntary sector organisations through the Bolton Strategic Partnership, Bolton Vision 2030.
Bolton is situated in an enviable location- just 10 miles northwest of Manchester. With direct trainlines into Manchester, and excellent motorway links we are a well-connected borough. As well as facing into Manchester and the opportunities it provides for our people and businesses, we face out to the moorland and the Lancashire plains- nowhere in Bolton is more than a few minutes from open green space, which makes it an attractive place to live, work and visit.
