The Border Patrol Foundation is a nonprofit organization that honors the memory of U.S. Border Patrol agents and provides resources to the families of the fallen as well as to agents seriously injured in the line of duty. It is based in Arlington, Virginia, operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and was incorporated in 2009 in Arizona after the death of USBP Agent Robert Rosas near the Mexican border; his family was the first to receive assistance. Its formation was championed by Ron Colburn and Mike Conners, with Colburn guiding the effort until his retirement in 2009 when the organization became a formal entity. In recent years the foundation has established partnerships with several private sector organizations to support its mission, including IntelliBridge, Trowbridge & Trowbridge, Axon Enterprise, MAG Aerospace, and Sentrillion. These collaborations reflect the foundation's approach of leveraging external resources to assist families and injured agents within the Border Patrol community.
