Based in San Marcos, Texas, the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Texas is a private nonprofit organization formed in 1994 as the Willie Mae Mitchell Community Opportunity Center and later aligned with Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2001. It serves youth across Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe, and Hays counties by providing a safe space to learn and grow, sustained relationships with adult mentors, and programs designed to foster life skills and character development. A notable aspect of BGCSCT is its operation of Texas Preparatory School, a charter school that implements Boys & Girls Clubs of America programming and follows BGCSCT’s mission, making it one of only two clubs in the United States with this arrangement. The organization’s mission is to help all young people, particularly those who need support most, reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens, supported by meaningful programming and qualified staff. In July 2025, BGCSCT partnered with Angelina Beautiful Clean to host a free four-day EcoCamp, reflecting ongoing collaboration with community partners to extend opportunities for local youth.
