We believe the brain is plastic. When you believe this, there are ‘no limits’: no limits to learning, no curbing of curiosity and no ceiling to success. True learning and a passion for life-long learning can be achieved when students are motivated to become autonomous, active thinkers and learners. With this in mind, we believe that Life and Learning go hand in hand.

For more than three years BrainCanDo, the brainchild of Mrs Harrington, Headmistress at Queen Anne’s School, has been working with experts and has participated in research projects to understand how memory works, how stress can be used to help performance in the classroom, how music can make you smarter and how important it is in teaching and pastoral care to take into account the plasticity of a child’s brain.

The objectives of the programme are to:

-	Improve cognitive performance and attainment
-	Foster a love of learning
-	Enable a healthy and productive approach to personal development

We have embedded the programme in the culture of the school and are now widening the project to include all of the Foundation schools, both the Grey Coat Hospital Foundation Schools (Queen Anne’s School and The Grey Coat Hospital Foundation) and the United Westminster Schools Foundation (Westminster City School, Emanuel School and Sutton Valance School). We are also developing the research opportunities with leading university research departments. 

The further development of this programme will lead to strategies that will improve student performance, and thereby academic results, and establish BrainCanDo as a leader in the rapidly developing area of neuroscience and education and a major contributor to the debate of the future of education. The programme has great potential to lead to revenue streams through the development of training programmes, conferencing and other resources which will go to market.
