Breakthrough Greater Boston is a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based nonprofit focused on education administration programs. It provides six years of tuition-free after-school programming for traditionally underserved middle and high school students in Cambridge, Boston, and Somerville, using a near-peer mentoring model in which college students serve as Teaching Fellows to support younger learners. The organization was founded in 1992 by Dr. Angela Duckworth and marked its 30th anniversary in 2022. Since inception, it has supported more than 2,500 students and Teaching Fellows, with 94% of seniors matriculating to college and 82% persisting through undergraduate years. In 2022 it launched the College Success Program to extend support from middle school through college, broadening programming from six to ten years.
