Breck’s history began in 1949 with the formation of The Ibex Company, which grew primarily through acquisitions and joint drilling ventures. In 1954, the company rebranded as Graridge Corporation, a name inspired by the founders’ hometowns. Continued growth through the late 1950s led to the 1966 sale of Graridge to American PetroFina and Josh Corporation and the creation of Petroleum Corporation of Texas (PETCO). After PETCO was sold in 1983 to Damson Oil, several successor companies were formed, including Breck Operating Corp., States, Inc., and Petco Limited. In 2003, States was sold in multiple lots via the Oil & Gas Asset Clearinghouse, leading to the establishment of States Royalty, L.P. and Brazos Limited Partnership. The company exited its legacy operations in 2019 and consolidated assets into Breck Minerals, LP in 2020, shifting its focus exclusively to acquiring high-quality mineral and royalty interests. Today, Breck continues to expand its mineral and royalty portfolio across the United States.
