Bring Me A Book (BMAB) is a California-based nonprofit organization dedicated to early literacy. Founded in 1997, the group aims to ensure equitable access to quality children’s literature for underserved families, with the goal of preventing delays in reading development and supporting school readiness. Its programs focus on encouraging a daily reading habit across school, after-school, and home environments, fostering a love of reading while enabling English language development and family literacy. BMAB serves children from birth through age eight and supports literacy initiatives in public schools, Head Start programs, early Head Start programs, childcare centers, and community organizations throughout California, often with collaboration from public libraries. In addition to distributing books and promoting literacy, the organization emphasizes sustained engagement with families and teachers to underscore the long-term benefits of reading. A recent collaboration with Preschool Play & Learn and Family Connections Preschool illustrates its ongoing partnerships to expand access to literacy resources and family involvement in learning. BMAB operates within the non-profit sector, positioning itself as a catalyst for community literacy by providing books, choice, and family engagement to help children develop reading habits.
