BrooklynVegan is a NYC-centric, mostly-music blog that covers international music news, live show reviews, photos, tour dates, gossip, tips, MP3s, and videos for music fans. Non-music news also appears on the site, and every post includes an open public comments section for reader discussion. Based in Brooklyn, New York, the site operates with a small-to-mid-sized team and maintains a steady rhythm of updates across its coverage.

Its audience consists of music enthusiasts seeking timely coverage, show information, and context around artists and scenes. The publication occupies a position in the music media landscape as a digital outlet centered on community discussion and diverse content from a New York vantage point. In March 2025, on its 10th anniversary, BrooklynVegan announced the addition of singer/guitarist Austin Getz to its roster, who joined the BrooklynVegan podcast to discuss the making of an album, its influences, and the surrounding scene.
