It comprises three floors of exhibitions, an IMAX theater, a special-effects theater, a café, and a museum store. Its Texas history galleries feature more than 500 original artifacts spanning 13,000 years and host a calendar of special exhibitions, films, and programs. It collaborates with more than 700 museums, libraries, archives, and individuals to display artifacts and develop exhibitions. In 2026, the museum added a new exhibit focused on Texas festivals. As a mid-sized cultural institution based in Texas, it draws on a broad network of partners to present artifacts and histories that illuminate Texas culture for the public.
